  1. im literally losing my mind here quick question before I buy a new external hard drive:

That's what i see whenever i connect it through teh laptop's USB-C port, i rebooted, uninstalled the device in Device Manager, and tried again. Same thing. Is there anything else on teh software side worth trying first? i don't mind digging into settings or drivers, i just don't want to spend money on a new external hard drive if the old one is perfectly fine. Any checklist would be very welcome. thx in advance!!

  2. Did you try a full power drain, not just a restart?

  3. been there man descriptor Request Failed means the device didn't answer Windows properly during setup, sooo it's usually power or signal, not drivers. plug it directly into a rear motherboard port, not a hub or front panel, and try again. worked for me anyway 🤷
