Open mmsys.cpl, right-click the empty space and tick Show Disabled Devices. Sometimes the update leaves teh studio monitors endpoint disabled rather than missing. fingers crossed 🤞

  1. i sat down to join a call this morning and my family PC was completely silent. no sound from the a soundbar, no startup chime, nothing. the speaker icon has a red X and Sound settings says there are no output devices. last night Windows installed the Dell Sigmatel Stac 92XX C-Major HD Audio Driver 5.10.0.5515, A11 update, and Im pretty sure thats the culprit. when i open Device Manager i see this:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    i've rebooted twice and run the audio troubleshooter, which claims it fixed something. It didn't. i don't know whether i should reinstall the driver, roll it back, or something else entirely. Where should i start so i don't make it worse? any ideas??

  2. does Device Manager show teh audio device with a warning icon, or is it missing completely? ?

  3. been there man many vendor audio pcakages split into a base driver plus extension/component drivers. if only part of it updated, things break. download the complete package from ur PC or motherboard makers support page and install it over the top.
