ahh classic check the VPNs virtual adapter in Device Manager > Network adapters (with hidden devices shown)... if it has an error, uninstall it and reinstall the VPN client, which recreates the adapter. worked for me anyway 🤷

  1. ugh. i start work by connecting an OpenVPN client. since yesterday's EVGA X58 E762 Network Driver 11.23.3.3 update, it either fails to connect or connects and then nothing loads. internet without the VPN is fine. the client shows something like this:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    IT says nothing changed on their side, and colleagues connect fine. my personal laptop is the only one with this problem xD I'm guessing teh network driver update clashed with the VPN somehow. how do I fix it without reinstalling everything? pls help 🙏

  2. Disable power saving features and offloads on teh physical adapter as a test: Device Manager > adapter > Properties > Advanced, try disabling Large Send Offload (IPv4/IPv6) and Checksum Offload. Some driver versions mishandle tunneled traffic with offloads on. fingers crossed 🤞

  6. oh ive been there lol roll back the physical network driver in Device Manager > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver 🙏 If teh VPN starts working, report the issue to teh driver vendor and ur IT department with the driver version. worked for me anyway 🤷

  8. yeahhh run ipconfig /all and route print while connected. If the VPN adapter has no IP or no routes, the client failed to configure it. Check Event Viewer and the VPN clients own log for teh error. hope that helps :)

  10. ehh offload settigns are a common culprit, but disabling them can slightly inrcease CPU usage... only keep them disabled if it actually helps.
