  1. im setting up a label printer and the HP download page offers a huge full software package plus a smaller basic Photosmart C4380 All-in-One Printer Series Driver. I only need ink level alerts. is there a reason to instlal the full suite, or does teh basic driver cover everything? ive had printer software slow down PCs before, so Im wary of installing more than I need. curious what youd pick.

    it works on my machine™

  3. The basic driver covers printing with most settings (duplex, trays, quality). The full suite adds scanning tools, status monitors, ink alerts, firmware updaters and sometimes cloud features. good luck man!

  6. hmmm if you need scanning, check whether Windows built-in scanning works (WIA or driverless). If it does, you may not need the vendor scan app. fingers crossed 🤞

  7. oof firmware updates are a good reason to keep the vendors utility around, or at least check the support page occasionally. Some update via the printers own web interface. fingers crossed 🤞

  8. lol same thing happened to me for offices, the basic driver plus a standard TCP/IP port is usually teh most stable setup. Fewer moving parts, fewer surprises. hope that helps :)
