  1. genuine question: after a new motherboard, do you install the chipset driver package first? my home-built PC runs fine with Windows defaults. the ASRock support page has FM2A85X Extreme4 Bios 1.60. if I install it, what chagnes? if I dont, what am I missing? id love to hear opinions from people whove tried both. im not chasing benchmark records, I just want a properly set up system that wont surprise me later. im about to throw this thing out the window lol

  4. ok so on many platforms, teh chipest package is mostly INF files that give devices proper names and correct power settings. windows often provides equivalent inbox drivers. but some platforms include real drivers (power management, PCIe, i/O) that do matter.

  5. oof check Device Manager with View > Show hidden devices. if there are unknown devices like SM Bus Controller or PCI Device, teh chipset package or related drivers fill those in. hope that helps :)

  6. ok so on some newer CPUs, the chipset package includes power plans or scheduler-related components that improve behavior 馃槄 for those, installing it from the vendor or board maker is recommended. lmk how it goes

nothing is more permanent than a temporary workaround
