  1. hmmmm ok i had a stack of documents to print before a meeting, hit Print, and nothing. The queue says teh printer is offline 😤 Its sitting right there, powered on, connected over the network, showing a happy ready light. My phone can even print to it :) This started after the Canon i320 Driver 1.90 Add-on Module update. This is what i see:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    Ive restarted the printer, the PC, and teh router. It comes back for a bit and then goes offline again. Im running out of patience and paper deadlines. Whats actually going on here? any ideas??

  2. wait is teh printer using a WSD port or a Standard TCP/IP port?

  4. lol same thing happened to me if it started with the driver update, try the vendors full package or the previous version from their support page... you can also remove the driver entirely in Print Management (printmanagement.msc, Pro editions) or via Print server properties > Drivers and reinstall. fingers crossed 🤞

  5. on the TCP/IP ports Configure Port dialog, try unticking SNMP Status Enabled. some printers answer SNMP poorly and Windows marks them offline even though printing works. lmk how it goes

  6. give the printer a fixed IP address, either in the printers settings or with a DHCP reservaiton on the router. if teh IP changes, the port points at nothing and Windows shows offline. worked for me anyway 🤷

  9. lol same thing happened to me check the port: Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > your printer > Printer properties > Ports tab. If it uses a WSD port, add a Standard TCP/IP Port with teh printers IP address and select that instead. WSD discovery is a frequent cause of random offline status. hope that helps :)

    the real fix was the friends we made along the way

  10. Accepted solution

    Clear and restart the spooler: in an admin terminal run net stop spooler, delete the files in C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS, then net start spooler. A stuck job can keep the queue in an error state.
