  1. guys pls help since installing Intel AOpen 1849-G Intel Chipset Driver 27/06 , the USB ports on my desktop randomly stop working. a USB hub disconnects, the Windows disconnect sound plays, and then nothing in that port works until I reboot. Sometimes I get this:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    Its not one port either, it moves around 😂 Ive tried different cables and devices. Before the update, i never had USB problems 😅 Is it possible a chipset driver broke USB, or is my motherboard giving up? what am i doing wrong??

  2. Check Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System around the disconnect time for events from USBHUB3, USBXHCI or Kernel-PnP... errors there point to the controller driver or power issues. worked for me anyway 🤷

  3. ok so install the chipset package that the PC or motherboard maker lists for ur exact model, rahter than a generic one from Intel, and check for a BIOS update. USB stability often depends on both.

  4. lol same thing happened to me if one heavy device like decade-old printer drops out, try a poweerd hub... some ports cant supply enough current, and that can look exactly like a driver problem. good luck man!

  8. oh ive been there lol disable USB power saving as a test: Power Options > Change plan settings > Advanced > USB settings > USB selective suspend setting > Disabled 🔥 Then in Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers, for each USB Root Hub, untick Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

  9. ok so roll back teh controller driver: Device Manager > USB controllers > USB xHCI Compatible Host Controller > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver, note that the inbox Microsoft xHCI driver is usually used; chipset packages mostly add INF names, but some include actual drivers.

  12. if everything fails and ports die even in a fresh Windows install or in a Linux live USB, the problem is hardware (motherboard or power), not drivers.

  14. hmmmm not sure about that if the symptom moves between ports, Id suspect the controller or power supply more than teh chipset INF package. but hey ymmv
