a commercial VPN app is broken on my personal laptop.

It connects, shows a green status, but no traffic flows. Disconnect and teh internet works normally. The only change was the network driver udpate from ECS... i have deadlines and Im currently working off my phone hotspot on another device. Whats teh quickest way to diagnose this?? Im comfortable running a few commands and reading logs, i just dont know which ones matter here.
