  1. im literally losing my mind here every few hours my gaming PC loses a USB hub, and the USB port stops responding.

im on teh P9X79 PRO USB 3.0 Driver package from ASUS. ive seen people mention USB selective suspend, power management, and chipset drivers. id love to understand which one is most likely, because changing all of them at once wont tell me anything. im happy to test one thing at a time and report back with results. im about to throw this thing out the window lol

  3. ahh classic if everything fails and ports die even in a fresh Windows install or in a Linux live USB, the problem is hardware (motherboard or power), not drivers.

  4. ahh classic if one heavy device like mechanical keyboard drops out, try a powered hub. some ports cant supply eonugh current, and that can look exactly like a driver problem.

  6. yeahhh install the chipset package that the PC or motherboard maker lists for your exact model, rather than a generic one from ASUS, and check for a BIOS update. USB stability often depends on both.

  7. oof roll back teh controller driver: Device Manager > USB controllers > USB xHCI Compatible Host Controller > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver. note that teh inbox Microsoft xHCI driver is usually used; chipset packages mostly add INF names, but some include actual drivers. fingers crossed 🤞
