Accepted solution by Tariq — For dual booting Linux, AHCI/non VMD mode is often simpler, though newer kernels support VMD in many cases. good luck man!
  1. ugh. im planning a fresh install on my desktop and wondering how to handle storage drivers this time. Should i go with teh vendors GCC-H23N Firmware and RAID/VMD mode, or AHCI and the inbox driver? Priority for me is stability. What would you choose and why? Im cmofortable changing BIOS settings, i just want to make the decision once and not regret it later. What would u do in my shoes?

  2. Is this an existing install or a fresh one?

  3. lol same thing happened to me for a single SSD, the inbox Standard NVM Express Controller driver is solid and gets updates through Windows. vendor drivers matter mainly for RAID arrays, Optane-style caching, or platforms that use VMD by default. fingers crossed 🤞

  5. ive seen vendor drivers give slightly better results in some benchmarks, but the difference is rarely noticeable in daily use. just my 2 cents
