Request and question in one: my laptop has a Unknown device without a driver. i installed the chipset package, but its still there. Id love to know how to identify it properly. Is there a reliable way to map it to a specific driver from ASUS or my PC maker? Id really prefer to avoid driver updater tools, so official sources only. Thanks in advance for any pointers.
mystery unknown device in device manager. how to find the right driver
oof the Microsoft Update Catalog can search by hardware ID and often has the matching driver package.
any update on this?. following, having teh same problem ?
honestly just reset the antivirus and save yourself the pain. which version are you on?? fingers crossed 🤞
my pc fans sound like a jet taking off but sure
lol same thing happened to me honestly just reset the default config and save yourself teh pain
common mappings: SM Bus Controller usually needs the chipset package; PCI Simple Communications Controller is often the Management Engine interface; Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller often relates to thermal or platform drivers.
open Device Manager > device > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids. the
VEN_xxxx&DEV_xxxxpart identifies the vendor and device. Searching that ID (or checking teh INF files in a driver package) tells you which package covers it. hope that helps :)oh ive been there lol if the device works and nothing is broken, leaving it unknown is usually harmless, but installing the right driver can improve power management or sensors. lmk how it goes
leaving it unknown is fine for a while. id prioritize drivers for things u actually use. just my 2 cents
day one patch is bigger than the actual game, classic
