i'm on the Card Reader Controller Driver package from Realtek. i've seen people mention USB selective suspend, power management, and chipset drivers, i'd love to understand which one is most likely, becasue changing all of them at once won't tell me anything. i'm happy to test one thing at a time and report back with results.

  2. ok so disable USB power saving as a test: Power Options > Change plan settings > Advanced > USB settings > USB selective suspend setting > Disabled. Then in Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers, for each USB Root Hub, untick Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. worked for me anyway 🤷

  5. check Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System around teh disconnect time for events from USBHUB3, USBXHCI or Kernel-PnP. errors there point to the controller driver or power issues. hope that helps :)

  9. roll back the controller driver: Device Manager > USB controllers > USB xHCI Compatible Host Controller > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver... note that the inbox Microsoft xHCI driver is usually used; chipset packages mostly add INF names, but some include actual drivers. lmk how it goes

  10. @ndemir_30 holy cow it was power. A powered hub for a keyboard fixed it completely, the driver update was just coincidence. cant believe it was that simple lol
