    ok so printer software question: for ink level alerts, do u install the full vendor suite or just the basic driver? My photo printer works with the Windows built-in driver already, but Im not sure what Im missing ;) Id love to hear what others do and whether the extras ever turned out useful. Id also like to know if switching later is easy, in case I change my mind and need the full package after all. Mostly I just want smth that works and stays out of the way.

    hmmm firmware updates are a good reason to keep the vendors utility around, or at least check the support page occasionally. Some update via teh printers own web interface.

    status monitors and update checkers often run at startup... u can disable them in Task Manager > Startup apps if u install the full suite but dont want the background load. fingers crossed 🤞

    hmmmm not sure about that some printers only expose certain features through teh full package. check before skipping it.
