  1. Request and question in one: my home-built PC has a Unknown device without a driver. I installed the chipset package, but its still there. Id love to know how to idetnify it prpoerly. Is there a reliable way to map it to a specific driver from AMD or my PC maker? Id really prefer to avoid driver updater tools, sooo official sources only. Thanks in advance for any pointers.

  2. open Device Manager > device > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids. the VEN_xxxx&DEV_xxxx part identifies the vendor and device... searching that ID (or checking the INF files in a driver packgae) tells you which package covers it. worked for me anyway 馃し

  4. if teh device works and nothing is broken, leaving it unknown is usually harmless, but installing the right driver can improve power management or sensors.
