driverless printing: the end of printer driver headaches?

  1. Our compact printer supports driverless printing, and Windows can add it without any vendor software. But Apple also offers Xerox Printer Drivers 4.0. For a shared apartment, is there any reason to install the vendor driver? 馃檹 I'm hoping driverless means fewer problems after Windows updates, but I don't want to lose important features. Curious about your experiences. Real experiences from people who tried it would help a lot.

  5. hmmm advanced features like booklet printing, special finishing, secure print or accounting codes often need teh vendor driver. Check what a laptop plus an external monitor actually uses. hope that helps :)

  7. hmmm driverless printing (IPP/Mopria) on Windows covers common settings: paper size, duplex, color, quality, it survives updates well since it doesnt depend on vendor packages. worked for me anyway 馃し
