if one heavy device like lightweight mouse drops out, try a powered hub. some ports can't supply enough current, and that can look exactly like a driver problem. lmk how it goes

  1. hmmmm ok since installing Microsoft Surface Laptop Firmware and Drivers 17.030.08, teh USB ports on my desktop randomly stop working... a USB hedaset discnonects, teh Windows disconnect sound plays, and then nothing in that port works until i reboot, sometimes i get this:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    its not one port either, it moves around 馃敟 ive tried different cables and devices. before the update, I never had USB problems. is it possible a chipset driver broke USB, or is my motherboard giving up?

  2. does it happen with every device or mainly with lightweight mouse?

  3. been there man install teh chipset package that the PC or motherboard maker lists for ur exact model, rather than a generic one from Microsoft, and check for a BIOS update. USB stability often depends on both. fingers crossed 馃
