driver updates do sometimes include security fixes, sooo I wouldn't stay on a very old version forever... but waiting a week or two after release to see if a hotfix appears is perfectly reasonable. lmk how it goes

  1. Genuine question about update philosophy. My PC is stable on whatever Windows Update installed. The new GeForce Graphics Driver 313.26 for FreeBSD 32-bit lists fixes that don't realy affect me. Do you update anyway for security and compatibility, or do you only update when a game or app needs it?? I mostly do video editing. I am curious how other ppl handle this, especially anyone who depends on their PC for work and cannot afford a broken evening.

  3. hmmmm ok reading this at 2am instead of sleeping, no regrets. try turning off the BIOS first, fixed it for me

  4. read teh release notes on the NVIDIA support page before anything else. they list fixed issues and known issues. if a known issue matches your setup, wait; if the fixes dont touch you, theers no rush.

  5. my approach: make a restore point, download teh previous driver package so its ready, then try the new one. if anything misbehaves, DDU and reinstall the old one ;) that makes updating a low-risk experiment. lmk how it goes
