Accepted solution by Tess Pereira — Do a clean install of the driver version you trust: download it from the NVIDIA support page, disconnect the network, boot to Safe Mode,…
  1. every time Im in a racing sim, somewhere around opening the map, the game freezes and closes with this:

    Fatal error

    Fatal error
The game has crashed and will now close.

    DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
The GPU device instance has been suspended.

The error text mentions DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED. The graphics card is obviously still in the PC. This only started after I installed NVIDIA GeForce Ion Graphics Notebook Driver 257.21. I've verified game files, lowered settings and closed every overlay I could find. Still crashes. Is the driver the culprit, or did teh update just expose a problem that was alreday there? any ideas??

  2. ahh classic if it happens across multiple drivers and games, test the hardware: reseat teh card, check teh PCIe power connectors, and try a stress test with temps logged. A card that only fails when warm is a classic pattern.

  3. remove any GPU overclock and memory overclock, device removed errors are very sensitive to VRAM instability. if u used a tuning tool, reset it to defaults and also check that no profile reapplies at startup.

  5. @tpereira nah thats not it, driver has nothing to do with it. for me it was teh default config. swapped it and boom, fixed

  7. Accepted solution

Do a clean install of the driver version you trust: download it from the NVIDIA support page, disconnect the network, boot to Safe Mode, run DDU, reboot, install 😭 Then test a battle royale for a few sesisons before changing anything else.

rgb adds +10 fps everyone knows that

  9. hmm idk id try one older driver before doing DDU. if the older one is stable, youve proven its driver related in ten minutes. just my 2 cents

  11. @tpereira it was teh performance preset. reset the NVIDIA app to defaults and kept GeForce Ion Graphics Notebook Driver 257.21 🔥 no crashes since, even during opening teh map.
