Accepted solution by Diego — Before all that, create a restore point: Checkpoint Computer Description "before DDU" in an admin PowerShell, or via System Protection.…
  1. I'm losing this fight with my own computer. the control panel won't open since the Geforce Graphics Driver update.

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    I tried Device Manager rollback (greyed out), uninstall via Settings (it came back), and installing the older package over the top (installer said a newer version exists). How do I get a clean old version and keep it there?? Every attempt makes me more nervous that I am going to end up with no display driver at all. I would really appreciate a clear, boring, step-by-step order that people actually trust.

    DNS. its always DNS

  2. lol same thing happened to me DDU isn't dangerous if you use it as intended, in Safe Mode, with a restore point first. The real risk is running it in normal mode with the network on and letting Windows race you to install a driver mid-cleanup. good luck man!

  4. to stop Windows Update replcaing it, use Device Installation Settings > No (System > About > Advanced system settings > Hardware) or the Group Policy "Do not include drivers with Windows Updates" on Pro.

  6. For a one-version rollback, the installers own clean install checkbox (when available) is often enough. DDU is great, but not always required. idk maybe im wrong lol
