UPDATE NOW OR STAY ON A DRIVER FROM LAST YEAR? THE ETERNAL NVIDIA QUESTION
Accepted solution
Jump to the replyDriver updates do sometimes include security fixes, so i wouldnt stay on a very old version forever. But waiting a week or two after release to see if a hotfix appears is perfectly reasonable.
my approach: make a restore point, download the previous driver package sooo its ready, then try the new one. if anything misbehaves, DDU and reinstall teh old one. that makes updating a low-risk experiment.
keep a short log of what driver ure on and when u changed it (
pnputil /enum-driversshows installed packages and dates). When smth braeks later, ull know if teh timing matches.
ok this thread just saved my weekend. which version are you on?
@hbecker dude decided to wait two weeks, then updated with teh previous package ready just in case. geForce Graphics Driver 551.86 has been fine so far. thank u thank u thank u
