  1. this is sooo frustrating. im trying to update the graphics driver on my office PC, and the custom install option fails immediately:

    Windows Update

    Windows Update
    We couldn't complete the updates.
Undoing changes. Don't turn off your computer.

    Error code: 0x800f0922

"Not compatible with this version of Windows." Windows Update says i'm fully up to date 🙏 the Hercules Radeon 3.4WHQL (Windows 9X/ME) page supports Windows Me, Windows 98, Windows 95. is the installer checking something besides the OS version? i feel like i'm missing something obvious. i even tried downloading it on another computer and copying it over, just in case teh file was corrupted. same error, same instant failure. i am honestly running out of ideas.

  3. the hardware ID ends in a subsystem ID from the laptop maker, not AMD. sorry for the wall of text lol

  4. @mayan143 nah thats not it, gpu has nothing to do with it. for me it was the default config. swapped it and boom, fixed

  5. Make suree you picked the right architecture and teh right OS family. A package meant for a different Windows edition, or a server/workstation branch, will refuse with teh same generic text.

  8. Some laptops use OEM-customized drivers (common on hybrid graphics). In that case get the driver from the laptop makers support page, or use the generic AMD package only if it explicitly lists mobile GPUs.

reading release notes like its a horror novel

  11. been there man check your Windows build with winver, newer driver packages can require a minimum feature update... if youre on an old build, install the pneding feature update first and try again.

  14. as a last resort you can extract the package and install the INF manually: Device Manager > Update driver > Browse my computer > Let me pick > Have Disk, or pnputil /add-driver <path>\*.inf /install. If the INF doesnt list your hardware ID, tho, dont force it. good luck man!

  15. run sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth if the installer fails on every version. A damaged component store can break driver installers in odd ways.

  16. ahh classic bump. still happening with radeon for me

  17. oh ive been there lol that error is often misleading. Installers check teh GPU's hardware ID against their INF file, not just teh OS. Open Device Manager > Display adapters > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids and compare. If you grabbed teh desktop package for a laptop GPU (or vice versa), u'll get this exact message.
