  1. My gaming desktop is performing like it lost a generation... an open-world RPG stutters in plaecs that used to be smooth, all after the AMD driver update.

id like to measure this properly instead of going on feel. whats the right way to compare two dirvers? i have both drievr packages downloaded already. i just do not want to run a dozen random tests and end up with numbers i cannot interpret. A simple, repeatable method would be perfect.

  2. Check Power Options: a Windows update or driver installer can switch to Balanced or a battery saver profile. On laptops, also check the manufacturers performance mode app.

  3. lol same thing happened to me first rule out the obvious: on laptops, check that teh game actually uses the dedicated GPU. Settings > System > Display > Graphics, add teh games .exe, set it to High performance, driver updates can reset per-app GPU preferences.

  5. been there man to measure properly, use a repeatable in-game benchmark or the same route, log frame times with a tool like PresentMon or CapFrameX, and compare average and 1% lows on both drivers. one run each isn't enough. hope that helps :)

  9. Accepted solution

Check that the driver install didnt reset ur control panel settings (power management mode, low latency mode, V-Sync, frame caps). A clean install resets everything to defaults, which can feel like a performance change. worked for me anyway 🤷
