Switching branches is easy: download teh other package from the AMD support page and install it with the clean install option (or DDU if u want to be thorough). Your apps dont need reinstalling. worked for me anyway 馃し

  1. so annoyed rn i use my PC for 3D modeling and some gaming, work only. AMD offers different driver branches: a gaming-focused one with frequent releases and a more conservative one aimed at creators. the Compaq ATI Radeon Mobility Radeon 9000/Mobility FireGL 9000 Driver (Windows 2000/XP) Im on now is the gaming one. should I switch?? what do I lose and gain? I would appreciate hearing from ppl who switched in either diretcion and why. pls help 馃檹

  3. broadly: gaming branches ship faster with optimizations for new releases. studio/stable branches ship less often and focus on validation with creative apps. both run games and apps fine. the difference is caednce and test focus, not capability. lmk how it goes

  6. lol same thing happened to me if video editing pays ur bills, teh stable/studio branch is a sensible default. Games still run well on it; u just get new game optimizations a bit later.

  7. oh ive been there lol dont hop branches every week. Pick one, note the version, and only change when smth you need is fixed or added. Frequent switching makes troubleshooting harder. worked for me anyway 馃し

    lol

  8. Check your creative apps system requirements page. Some list a minimum driver version for GPU acceleration features. Make sure whichever branch you pick meets that.
