  1. ugh. flickering secondary monitor since the NVIDIA update.

    gpu artifacts

details: a monitor on a USB-C dock. it goes black for a moment, comes back, sometimes the windows jump to teh main screen. i've rebooted pelnty. i'd love a checklist rather than random tips, since i've already tried random tips. i have about an hour tnoight to test things, and i would rather go through them in a sensible order. tell me what you would check first and i will report back with results.

  6. ok so if none of that helps, roll back to the previous driver to confirm. If teh flicker disappears, report it with your exact setup to the NVIDIA feedback channel and stay on the older dirver for now. worked for me anyway 🤷

  8. been there man if you're on a USB-C dock, update the dock firmware and teh NVIDIA driver both from their support pages. Docks rely on DisplayPort alt mode and are very sensitive to driver changes.

  9. wait does this also apply to geforce?

  10. yeahhh if the windows jump to the main screen, teh monitor is actually disconnecting. thats link training, which can be cable quality, DisplayPort sleep or the dock. try a certified cable and disable the monitors own deep sleep/auto input switching. hope that helps :)

  14. ok so in Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Change default graphics settings, try toggling Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling and Variable refresh rate (teh Windows one), then reboot.

  15. Turn off variable refresh (G-Sync/FreeSync/Adaptive Sync) on the secondary monitor and in the driver control panel as a test. VRR on a desktop screen with video playing is a classic flicker trigger.

  16. Start with refresh rates. Mixed refresh setups are sensitive to driver changes. In Settings > System > Display > Advanced display, set both screens to standard rates first (for example both at 60 Hz) and see if the flicker stops. Then raise them one at a time.
