ahh classic before all that, create a restore point: Checkpoint-Computer -Description "before DDU" in an admin PowerShell, or via System Protection. Cheap insurance.

  1. after installing NVIDIA GeForce iCafe Graphics Driver 376.11 Ive had stuttering in every game on my prebuilt tower. fine, Ill just roll it back... except the Roll Back Driver button is greyed out, and when i uninstalled it Windows put a driver back on its own... i keep getting this:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    ive heard of DDU, but people say its dangerous and other peolpe say its teh only correct way. i just want to go back to teh drvier that worked yesterday... whats the right sequence? any ideas??

  2. sequence that works: 1) download the older package from teh NVIDIA support page and DDU, 2) disconnect the network, 3) boot into Safe Mode (Settings > Recovery > Advanced startup > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings), 4) run DDU, choose Clean and restart, 5) install the older package, 6) reconnect.

  3. roll Back is greyed out when Windows doesnt have the previous driver package cached... thats normal, not a sign anything is broken... u can see whats stored with pnputil /enum-drivers and remove a specific package with pnputil /delete-driver oemXX.inf /uninstall. good luck man!

  5. lol same thing happened to me to stop Windows Update replacing it, use Device Installation Settings > No (System > About > Advanced system settings > Hardware) or teh Group Policy "Do not include drivers with Windows Updates" on Pro.

  6. oof DDU isn't dangerous if u use it as intended, in Safe Mode, with a restore point first. The real risk is running it in normal mode with teh network on and letting Windows race u to install a driver mid-cleanup. worked for me anyway 🤷

  11. if installing teh older package over the top complains about a newer version, thats exactly teh case for DDU. installers refuse downgrades but are fine on a clean system. worked for me anyway 🤷

  14. wait what for a one-version rollback, the installers own clean install checkbox (when available) is often enough. DDU is great, but not always required. just my 2 cents

  15. @clara.ferreira holy cow did it exactly in that order with the network unplugged. Old driver installed, stuttering in every game is gone, and Windows hasnt tuoched it in a week. Thank you! owe u a beer 🍺
