  1. not gonna lie this is driving me nuts im losing this fight with my own computer. the control panel wont open since the Radeon Adrenalin Edition Graphics Driver 18.11.2 Hotfix update.

    USB Audio Device Properties

I tried Device Manager rollback (greyed out), uninstall via Settings (it came back), and installing the older package over the top (installer said a newer version exists) lol How do I get a clean old version and keep it there? Every attempt makes me more nervous that I am gonna end up with no display driver at all. I would really appreciate a clear, boring, step-by-step order that ppl actually trust.

  6. ahh classic before all that, create a restore point: Checkpoint-Computer -Description "before DDU" in an admin PowerShell, or via System Protection. Cheap insurance.

  7. yeahhh DDU isnt dangerous if you use it as intended, in Safe Mode, with a restroe point first. The real risk is running it in normal mode with teh network on and letting Windows race you to install a driver mid-cleanup. good luck man!

  9. ahh classic to stop Windows Update replacing it, use Device Installation Settings > No (System > About > Advanced sytsem settings > Hardware) or the Group Policy "Do not include drivers with Windows Updates" on Pro. worked for me anyway 🤷

yeahhh roll Back is greyed out when Windows doesnt have teh previous driver package cached. Thats normal, not a sign anything is borken. You can see whats stored with pnputil /enum-drivers and remove a specific package with pnputil /delete-driver oemXX.inf /uninstall. worked for me anyway 🤷

  11. @eferreira dude DDU was much less scary than I expected. clean install of the older AMD driver and everything works. saving this thread for next time.
