im literally losing my mind here every time i open the NVIDIA app it asks which branch i want and i click whichever is selected. Now Im doing serious video editing with deadlines and i care more about stability than the newest game fixes. Is the slower branch genuinely more tested, or is it the same driver with a different label? i would also like to know if switching branches is painful, or if it is just a matter of downloading a different package and installing it cleanly. seriously need help here 😭
has anyone actually noticed a difference between driver branches for video editing?
ok so my main app's requierments page lists a minimum driver, and both branches meet it.
ahh classic broadly: gaming branches ship faster with optimizaitons for new releases... studio/stable branches ship less often and focus on validation with cerative apps. both run games and apps fine, the difference is cadence and test focus, not capability. hope that helps :)
switching branches is easy: download the other package from the NVIDIA support page and install it with teh clean install option (or DDU if you want to be thoorugh). your apps dont need reinstalling.
oh ive been there lol dont hop branches every week. Pick one, note teh version, and only change when something you need is fixed or added 😭 Frequent switching makes troubleshooting harder. fingers crossed 🤞
hmmmm not sure about that ive used the gaming branch for creative work for years without issue. the stable branch is nice, but not manadtory. but hey ymmv
