  1. I plug my phone into the laptops USB-C port and get teh chime, then a pop-up saying teh device malfunctioned 😤 Device Manager shows this:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)... the same phone works on my partners laptop with teh same cable, so i dont think its broken. what is my PC doing differently?? i also tried uninstalling the device from Device Manager and lettnig Windows reinstall it, but teh same error pops up within seconds.. 🤦 its like teh PC just refuses to talk to it.

  2. in Device Manager, uninstall every entry under Universal Serial Bus controllers, then reboot. windows reinstalls them on startup. also insatll the chipset driver from your motherboard or laptop makers site.

  5. if the phone draws alot of power, a bus-powered hub or a long cable can starve it, try a powered hub or teh shortest cable u own.

  8. Selective suspend helps laptops more than desktops in my experience. On a desktop I'd focus on cables and ports first.
