  1. ugh. question for teh backup nerds: how often do you test restoring? i realized Ive been backing up my client projects to a NAS for years and Ive never once tried to get a file back from it. Is that as risky as it suddenly feels? Also curious how you organize it. Do you back up everything, or only certain folders? i suspect Im either backing up too much or missing the important stuff. pls help 馃檹

  2. oh ive been there lol keep at least one copy disconnected or versioned so ransomware can't encrypt it along with the main drive.

  3. yeahhh write down how to restore, including any passwords for encrypted backups, and keep it somewhere you'll find it when things go wrong.

  6. Test a restore every few months: pick a random file from an old backup and actually open it. Its the only way to know the backup works. hope that helps :)

  8. sync is not backup. if you delete or corrupt a file in a synced folder, the deletion syncs too. use a backup tool with versioning. worked for me anyway 馃し

  11. i'd question teh 'cloud backup is required' advice for very large libraries. An exetrnal drive rotated off-site works fine if you're disciplined. just my 2 cents
