long time lurker first post lol ive been running a 6-core from three generations back for a long time and Im wondering whether its holding me back for gaming at 1440p, i dont wanna spend money on a new CPU, motherboard and RAM only to see a small difference. How did u decide it was time? 👍 What did u measure beofre upgrading, and were you happy afterwards?? Id love to hear concrete examples, like what you were running before and after, and what you actually noticed in daily use 🤦 Numbers are welcome, but feelings count too. any ideas??
my 6-core from three generations back still feels fine. am i missing something?
oh ive been there lol check whether your current board supports a newer CPU with a BIOS update. A drop-in upgrdae is often the best value before changing platforms. worked for me anyway 🤷
ok so for build my first PC, look at what the software actually uses, some workloads scale with core count, others depend more on single-thread speed... benchmarks of your exact app matter more than general rankings. hope that helps :)
