is there any real fix for shader stutter, or do we just wait it out??

  1. a new open-world game looks gorgeous on my RX 7700 XT, but it keeps freezing for a split second during the first hour. The FPS counter says high numbres, then a spike in frame time, then smotoh again. After teh latest driver install i also got this notice:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    I lowered every setting and it didnt help at all. Is this my PC, or is this the infamous shader compilation stutter??

    Ive already tried lowering settings, turning off ray tracing and capping teh frame rate. The average FPS barely matters, its these hitches that ruin the expreience. Any ideas are welcome.

  2. in the NVIDIA Control Panel, set Shader Cache Size to a large value or Unlimited under Manage 3D settings. on AMD, make suree teh shader cache is enabled in Adrenalin's graphics settings. A cache that's too small gets evicted constantly. hope that helps :)

  3. ahh classic driver updates invalidate teh shader cache, so stutter returns after every update. Thats expected. Stutter usually reduces as you relpay areas cuz the compiled shaders are now cached.

  5. nah tbh id honestly blame the game more than the PC here, some titles simply compile too much at runtime, and no setting fully fixes that until a patch arrives.
