  1. hmmmm ok has anyone beaten 0x800f0922? Im close to giving up.

    Windows Update

    Windows Update
    We couldn't complete the updates.
Undoing changes. Don't turn off your computer.

    Error code: 0x800f0922

The secondhand laptop is otherwise healthy, plenty of free space on C:, no weird software 😅 i did resize partitions a while ago to give more space to C:, if that matters. Every attempt at the servicing stack update takes forty minutes and then rolls back. Im wondering if that partition change is the reason, but i dont want to touch anything else without understanding it first. A wrong click there sounds like it could make things much worse. pls help 🙏

  5. oh ive been there lol if a VPN is installed, disconnect or disable it during the update. 0x800f0922 can also appear when the machine cant reach update servers mid-install.

  6. As a fallback, download teh exact update package from the Microsoft Update Catalog and install it manually. If that also fails, an in-place repair upgrade with the Media Creation Tool keeps your files and apps.

  8. lol same thing happened to me repair the component store, which udpate installs depend on:

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    sfc /scannow

then look at C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log around the failure time for teh actual failing component.

  9. lol same thing happened to me reset teh update components before trying again:

    net stop wuauserv
    net stop bits
    ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
    net start bits
    net start wuauserv

    good luck man!

  10. Accepted solution

check the recovery environment status from an elevated prompt:

    reagentc /info

if it says Disabled or points to a missing location, the update cant stage its changes. microsoft has a documented procedure for enlarging the recovery partition when this happens.
