ok so on Windows handhelds like the ROG Ally or Legion Go, check Disk Management to see if the card shows up. you can also run chkdsk X: /f on it, with X being the cards drive letter.

if you go generic, block driver updates for that device or Windows Update will likely reinstall the vendor driver at some point.

ok so a day of downtime would be annoying for video editing, but not a disaster. sorry for the wall of text lol
