Vendor Audio Drivers: Useful Features Or Bloat??

ok so curious about smth 🙏 When i install AC 97 ALC650 Audio CODECs Driver 2006/11/30 i get extra features 😭 When i use the built in driver i get fewer features but no surprises after updates. For movies on a home built desktop, which would u choose and why? 🙏 i'm not an audiophile, but i do notice when something sounds off... i'd like to make an informed choice once and then stop thinking about it. Which one has been less hassle for you over time? thx in advance!!

wait is it laptop speakers, headphones, or external speakers?

ok so mostly headphones on the home-built desktop, sometimes built-in speakers. hope thats enough info 😅

if you go generic, block driver updates for that device or Windows Update will likely reinstall the vendor driver at some point.

oh ive been there lol on laptops especially, the PC makers driver often contains speaker tuning and sometimes features like headphone detection or mic arrays... if teh speakers sound flat on teh generic driver, thats why.
