try turning off the driver first, fixed it for me

Extract the package, copy the folder with the .inf, .sys and .cat files to the install USB, then in setup click Load driver Browse and select that folder. The VMD conrtoller entry should appear; install it and the drive shows up.

oof look in Event Viewer Windows Logs System around teh upadte time for errors from Kernel PnP or teh audio driver service. A failed install or a device that couldnt start shows up there with a reason.

if streaming pays your bills, the stable/studio branch is a sensible default. games still run well on it; you just get new game optimizations a bit later. good luck man! the real fix was the friends we made along the way
