ahh right winver shows a pretty old build. Windows Update said up to date but there was a feature update waiting under optional updates.

been there man if it started exactly with the update, roll back the specific device driver or use System Restore. also check for a BIOS update on teh maker's page, since sleep behavior is shared between firwmare and drivers. fingers…
