  1. long story short: my desktop drains the battery in a bag after the P43R1600Twins-110dB Bios 1.10 for DOS update.

The battery is suffering, and so am I. I tried disabling hibernation and re-enabling it, but that changed nothing lol What tools can tell me which device or driver is causing the problem?? Happy to post reports here if someone can help me read them. Id especially like to know whether I should go back to the older chipset package or try the one from my PC maker instead.

  2. ok but what does powercfg /a list as available sleep states? ?

my pc fans sound like a jet taking off but sure

  3. hmmm start with powercfg /a to see which sleep states are available (S3 vs Modern Standby). Then powercfg /lastwake and powercfg /waketimers show what woke teh machine. fingers crossed 🤞

  4. been there man if it started exactly with the update, roll back the specific device driver or use System Restore. also check for a BIOS update on teh maker's page, since sleep behavior is shared between firwmare and drivers. fingers crossed 🤞

  5. On Modern Standby systems, run powercfg /sleepstudy in an admin terminal and open the HTML report. It shows drain per session and which components kept the system active. good luck man!

  9. ok so install teh chipset, Management Engine (if present) and serial IO drivers as a matching set from the PC makers support page... mixing an updated chipset package with older related drviers is a common source of sleep issues. worked for me anyway 🤷

  12. check Event Viewer > System for Kernel-Power and Power-Troubleshooter events. The latter logs the wake source; the former logs unexpected restarts. hope that helps :)
