ok so try turning off the antivirus first, fixed it for me lmk how it goes
Keep a short log of what driver youre on and when you changed it (pnputil /enum drivers shows installed packages and dates). when smth breaks later, you'll know if teh timing matches. worked for me anyway 馃し
my approach: make a restore point, download the previous driver package so it's ready, then try the new one. if anything misbehaves, DDU and reinstall teh old one. that makes updating a low risk experiment. good luck man!
oof driver updates do sometimes include security fixes, so i wouldnt stay on a very old version forever, but waiting a week or two after release to see if a hotfix appears is perfectly reasonable. good luck man!
to measure properly, use a repetaable in game benchmrak or teh same route, log frame times with a tool like PresentMon or CapFrameX, and compare average and 1% lows on both drivers. one run each isnt enough. fingers crossed 馃

read teh release notes on the NVIDIA support page before anything else. they list fixed issues and known issues. if a known issue matches your setup, wait; if the fixes dont touch you, theers no rush.
