ehh idk man that sounds like bad advice tbh but hey ymmv
Driver updates do sometimes include security fixes, sooo i wouldnt stay on a very old version forever. But waitnig a week or two after release to see if a hotfix appears is perfectly reasonable.
How bad would a day of downtime be for your office work? ??
dumb question but how do i even check the driver
same issue here on my desktop... glad im not the only one hope that helps :) day one patch is bigger than the actual game, classic
Many GPU installers let u choose components in Custom install, and the HDMI/DisplayPort audio driver is one of them. Rerun the NVIDIA installer, choose Custom, and make sure the HD audio component is ticked.
@pingwarden works on paper, not in real life. try turning off the power plan first, fixed it for me just my 2 cents
Open the classic sound panel with mmsys.cpl, right click the empty area, enable Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices . A disabled HDMI endpoint wont appear in the modern Settings page. worked for me anyway 🤷
the hardware ID ends in a subsystem ID from the laptop maker, not AMD. sorry for the wall of text lol
oh ive been there lol switching branches is easy: download the other package from the NVIDIA support page and install it with teh clean install option (or DDU if you want to be thorough).. ;) your apps dont need reinstalling. good luck man!
@mutexfiddler dude DDU was much less scary than i expected. Clean install of teh older AMD driver and everything works. Saving this thread for next time. u guys are the best!!!
sorry forgot to say home edition, so no Group Policy for me.
@regex fiddler holy cow the game had dropped back to the integrated GPU. set it to High performance and a competitive shooter runs better than before. wow. seriously made my day 😭🙏
