ok so honest question for people whove been through this. im running a six-core CPU from a few genertaions ago paired with a GTX 1660 Super. games feel sluggish, but i cant tell which part is the problem. my target is 1080p ultra. did you ever upgrade one part and rerget not doing the other first? 🔥 ive watched comparison videos, but they awlays use top-end parts, not setups like mine. real experiences from ppl with similar hardware would help alot more than benchmark charts. what did u upgrade first, and were you happy with it?
RUNNING A SIX-CORE CPU FROM A FEW GENERATIONS AGO WITH A GTX 1660 SUPER. WHAT ACTUALLY HOLDS ME BACK? !!
Accepted solution
Jump to the replyoh ive been there lol lower the resolution or render scale as a test. if your FPS barely changes, ure CPU-limited, if FPS jumps a lot, the GPU is teh limit.

@thread_wrangler what did u end up doing in the end
lol same thing happened to me measure before u buy. Run your usual games with an overlay showing GPU usage. If the GPU sits at 95-99% usage, it's the limit. If GPU usage is low while one or two CPU threads are maxed out, the CPU is the bottleneck. fingers crossed 🤞
@loose_probe omg finally ran teh usage test like suggested and the CPU was clearly the limit, got a drop-in upgrade on the same board and my FPS lows improved massively, great advice. seriously made my day 😭🙏
missing vcruntime140.dll: which redistributable do i actually need? ugh
