  1. i run a small business and customers keep emailing that on my online stores checkout, the layout is scrambled, our developer cannot reporduce it on any of his devices.

one customer sent a screenshot and i spotted a dark mode extension in their tooblar, is it realistic that a popular extension breaks a site this badly? and if so, is there anything we can do on our side, or do we just tell ppl to switch it off? pls help 🙏

  4. If youre teh site owner: wrap third-party and optinoal scripts so a failure doesnt stop your main code, avoid relying on globals an extension might overwrite, and add a small note in your help pages suggesting customers disable a password manager extension for the site if they see problems. worked for me anyway 🤷

  6. Firefox has Troubleshoot Mode (Help > Troubleshoot Mode) which starts with all add-ons disabled. Chromium browsers can be started with a fresh profile instead. If teh site works there, uve proven its local, not teh website. lmk how it goes

  7. been there man dark mode and grammar extensions modify teh DOM and inject styles into every page. editors, canvases and custom inputs often break because the extension rewrites colors or wraps text nodes. most of these extensions let u disable them per site; thats usually better than uninstalling.

  8. ad blockers match on file and element names 🤦 scripts called something like ads.js, tracking.js or analytics-bundle.js get blocked even if theyre essential, and checkout or video players die. check the Network tab for requests marked blocked by client; if u own the site, rename essential files and dont make core features depend on tracking scripts.

  9. open DevTools > Console and look for errors whose source starts with chrome-extension:// or moz-extension://... that ID matches one of your installed extensions, and you can see it on teh extensions page with Developer mode turned on.

  10. Disabling per site is fine, but some of these extensions update constantly. Id report teh issue to the extension developers too, otherwise itll happen again on teh next site.
