my internet is fine, so why does an online card game refuse to finish updating?

  1. long time lurker first post lol patch day arrived and i was ready. Except my game launcher downloads teh an online card game update, gets to the verifying step and then throws this:

    Windows Update

    Windows Update
    We couldn't complete the updates.
Undoing changes. Don't turn off your computer.

    Error code: 0x800f0922

Theres plenty of space on the drive and my internet speed is normal 🤦 Ive retried it at least six times now and watched hours of downloads go to waste. Friends are already playing the new content without me.

i also tried pausing and resuming the download and switching the download region in the settings. same failure each time, at teh same point, it feels like smth is blocikng it locally.

  2. wait does the error mention disk write or corrupt download, or just a generic update failure??

  3. been there man run chkdsk X: /f on teh drive where teh game lives (replace X with the drive letter)... bad sectors or file system errors can make one specific file fail to write every time. hope that helps :)

  5. ok so disk write errros usually mean the launcher can't write to teh folder, not that the disk is full... check that your antivirus (including Windows Defender's Controlled folder access) isn't blocking the launcher, add teh launcher executable and teh game folder as exclusions.

  6. try turning off teh drievr first, fixed it for me hope that helps :)

  7. if youre on a VPN or custom DNS, try wihtout it once. some CDNs serve broken or blocked chunks through certain routes, and teh launcher reoprts it as a generic update failure.

  8. Use the launchers Verify or Repair option before retrying the update 🙏 If one existing file is corrupted, the patch cant be applied on top of it. worked for me anyway 🤷

  11. run the launcher as administrator once and retry, if that works, the game folders permissions are wrong. right-click teh folder, Properties > Security, and make sure your user has full control. worked for me anyway 🤷

  12. ahh classic clear teh launchers download cache :/ Most launchers have this in their settings; otherwise close it completely and delete the temporary download folder inside teh library folder. Corrupted partial files often break at the same percentage forever.

  13. @loose_probe Took ownership of the copied folder, gave my user full control, and the update went straight through the verifying step. Thanks everoyne. seriously made my day 😭🙏
