  1. Small experiment: i moved everything over to Vivaldi for web development. Bookmarks, passwords, extensions, the lot. Some things were better than i expected, some things drove me nuts witihn a day. Before i decide whether to stay, Im curious what the rest of you think. Is Vivaldi a sensible choice for this, or am i fighting teh tool?? Real epxeriences appreciated more than benchmark screenshots. Long answers welcome, Im genuinely trying to make a sensible decision this time.

  2. for web development Id say the browser you test in matters more than the one you browse in 馃檹 use whatever you like daily, but keep at least one Chromium browser, Firefox and Safari (or a WebKit-based test browser) around. bugs that only show in one engine are still very real.

  7. Extensions are the real decider for me. Before switching, list the extensions you can't live without and check they exist and are maintained for the new browser. Everything else is mostly taste.

  10. oh ive been there lol on low-RAM machines the biggest win isnt teh browser brand, its discipline: tab suspension (built in to most browsers now as memory saver or tab sleeping), fewer extensions, and not keeping three web apps pinned... measure with teh browsers own task manager before switching.

  11. lol same thing happened to me for privacy, defaluts matter because most people never change settings. Look at what each browser blcoks out of the box: third-party cookies, fingerprinting scripts, bounce tracking. Then check what it sends home by default and whether u can turn it off.
