My Marketplace 1TB SATA SSD Already Throws A SMART Warning. Bargain Or Ticking Bomb?

oh ive been there lol pro tip: write down what u change. i didnt and had to redo ssd from scratch. exact same thing happened to my office machine last month good luck man!

screenshot the SMART data now and send it to the seller with the purchase date. A warning within the return period is the easiest refund you will ever get... waiting only weakens your position.

oof bump. still happening with weeks for me. try turning off the BIOS first, fixed it for me worked for me anyway 🤷

for me it was the driver. swapped it and boom, fixed lmk how it goes

oof whatever you decide, set up a real backup today. A second drive with a scheduled copy, or File History, or robocopy /MIR in a scheduled task. A cheap drive is fine if losing it costs u nothing. worked for me anyway 🤷

nah tbh keep it if it is only wear. A worn SSD as a game library drive is a perfectly sensible use, games can be downloaded again. idk maybe im wrong lol

ok so have u checked your ssd settings? mine were reset after an update. reading this at 2am instead of sleeping, no regrets

for me it was the firmware. swapped it and boom, fixed

@ava_copper yesss number stayed stable for two weeks, sooo the marketplace 1TB SATA SSD is now my game library drive only. Projects moved to a new SSD with a nightly backup. cant believe it was that simple lol
