  1. ok weird one im tearing my hair out... my a dinosaur survival game server on a home server works locally, but my friends server list shows nothing. I forwarded TCP 25565 and still got this on teh host when I checked the network:

    Network & internet

    Network & internet
    Wi-Fi • HomeNet_5G
    No internet, secured

Connected, but nothing loads. Troubleshoot problems?

Any ideas before I give up and rent a server?

i'm reasonably techy, but networking is not my strong suit, i'd appreciate a checklist of what usually goes wrong, so i can go through it step by step.

  2. allow teh server through the host firewall... on Windows: New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Game Server" -Direction Inbound -Protocol UDP -LocalPort 27015 -Action Allow (adjust protocol and port). On Linux with ufw: sudo ufw allow 27015/udp. fingers crossed 🤞

oh ive been there lol give the server host a static local IP or a DHCP reservation 🙏 if a static site host got a new local IP after a reboot, the forwarding rule poitns to a device that no longer exists.
