  1. guys pls help genuine question, not a rant. Is a soldered SSD actually necessary for mdoern designs, or just convenient for manufacturers?? I'm buying a new ultrabook soon and I'm torn between a sleek sealed model and a slightly tihcker one that I could fix myself in five years. Which one would you buy, and why? 馃檹 Battery life mattres to me, but so does not throwing away a whole machine because one part wears out. what am i doing wrong??

  2. How long do you usually keep a device before replacing it?

  5. There is a real engineering side. Soldered LPDDR memory can run at higher speeds with lower power use than socketed modules, which helps battery life in thin designs. Newer socketed fomrats like LPCAMM try to fix that trade-off.

  6. buy for the life you expect from the macihne. if u keep devices for five years or more, choose the model with the most RAM and storage u can afford at purchase, cuz with sealed parts you can't fix that later.
