Help Me Pick Between A Light Chassis And Raw Power For Nursing

  1. I start nursing soon and my parents gave me about 700 dollars for a laptop... that is all I get for teh next four years, sooo I really cannot mess this up... everyone online seems to recommend whatever they personally own... my priorities: a light chassis, smth that wont feel slow in year three, and ideally not a giant brick. what specs actually matter for my course and where can I safely save money? im about to throw this thing out the window lol

  2. Avoid the cheapest models with 8GB and an eMMC or small SSD. They feel fine in the store and miserable a year later with a browser full of tabs and a video call running.

  3. lol same thing happened to me check your departments software list before buying. Some mechanical engineering programs need Windows only tools, some need a dedciated GPU, and some run fine in a browser. The syllabus answers this better than any forum. good luck man!

  4. yeahhh battery life matters more than benchmarks for students lmao You will sit in lecture halls with two outlets for two hundred people 🙏 Look for reviews with real battery tests, not the manufacturer's numbers. worked for me anyway 🤷

  5. oof check if ur university has student discounts with laptop makers, many do, and it can push you one tier up for the same budget. good luck man!

  7. nah tbh i disagree with the RAM first advice for some courses :D If your work is heavily GPU bound, a dedicated GPU matters more than going from 16 to 32GB. just my 2 cents
