  1. im literally losing my mind here im tearing my hair out... my a dinosaur survival game server on a Linux box works locally, but my friends server list shows nothing. I forwarded TCP 25565 and still got this on teh host when I checked the network:

    Network & internet

    Network & internet
    Wi-Fi • HomeNet_5G
    No internet, secured

Connected, but nothing loads. Troubleshoot problems?

Any ideas before I give up and rent a server?

I'm reasonably techy, but networking is not my strong suit. I'd appreciate a checklist of what usually goes wrong, so I can go through it step by step.

  3. port checker sites often report UDP ports as closed even when they work, because UDP has no handshake. test by having a friend connect directly with your public IP and port instead.

  5. Allow teh server through teh host firewall. On Windows: New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Game Server" -Direction Inbound -Protocol UDP -LocalPort 27015 -Action Allow (adjust protocol and port). on Linux with ufw: sudo ufw allow 27015/udp. fingers crossed 🤞

    lol
