  1. Requesting help with a driver for my old laser printer. It works great, but on 64-bit Windows 10 teh installer from the manufacturer's site throws this:

The installer is from years ago and only lists older Windows versions... i really dont wanna throw away a perfectly working device. Has anyone gotten one of these working? Ive tried compatibility mode on the installer, which didnt change anything 😂 Im hoping someone here has fought this battle before and won.

  3. try Windows built-in drivers first: Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add device > The printer that I want isnt listed > Add a local printer. pick the manufacturer and look for your model or a close sibling in teh list. click Windows Update in that dialog to refresh teh list. fingers crossed 🤞

  4. lol same thing happened to me many laser printers support standard PCL or PostScript. A generic driver like Generic / Text Only is too basic, but a PCL driver from the same manufacturers universal driver often works for older models. fingers crossed 🤞

  5. oof for scanners, check if the device supports WIA or TWAIN with a newer generic driver. On Linux, SANE supports many older scanners, which some people use via a spare machine.
