  1. strange one. ever since a graphics driver update, teh screen stays black through teh BIOS logo and only comes on once Windows finishes loading:

sometimes it doesnt come on at all and I have to unplug teh DisplayPort cable and plug it back in. it works fine once its up. its not the end of teh world, but it means I cant get into the BIOS at all, and that bothers me. it also makes me nervous something is slowly failing. thx in advance!!

  4. If you have a dedicated graphics card, make suree the cable is plugged into the card's outputs, not teh motherboard's video ports. Those motherboard ports are disabled when a GPU is installed.

  10. if it started after a driver update, boot into Safe Mode (interrupt boot three times to reach Windows Recovery), then use DDU to remove teh driver and reinstall a clean one.

  11. hmmm if teh picture appears only after Windows loads, teh GPU firmware and the monitor may not agree on the boot resolution. try another port on teh card, or toggle CSM/legacy boot in the BIOS. good luck man!

clear CMOS (jumper or remove teh battery for a minute with teh PC unplugged). A BIOS update or stetings change can leave the primary display set to teh wrong output.
